CHILDREN FOR THE WORLD ENVIRONMENT


Wrote and composed the Anthem, “Children For The World – Call You Now” for the above project, which gives support to environmental causes. Andonis also Directed and Produced the promotional video.


1999/1997


EL CID


Wrote and composed a musical version of EL CID for Plácido Domingo to sing the lead role of Spain’s greatest hero. Also, devised and currently producing a two hour ‘Television Special’ centred on a major concert event to celebrate the life of and mark the 900th anniversary of El Cid. The event is planned to take place in the ancient Roman amphitheatre below the castle of Sagunto in Valencia - the city El Cid took from the Moors and where he died. The large-scale “crossover” musical work is scored for Soloists, Chorus, Children’s Chorus, Flamenco Dancers and Musicians, Narrator, Rhythm Section and Symphony Orchestra. This project is the initial venture into television film production by Andonis Violaris and Magic Sphere Limited; a company specially formed to develop original ideas by Andonis Violaris for television, based on storylines of a musical nature.


The venture is backed by Andonis Violaris' twenty years professional experience and background of working in the field of entertainment; his many connections in the industry and in working closely with directors, producers, film editors and production companies, including personal experience in directing and production.


THOMAS HARDY SONG CYCLE


A project being developed by Magic Sphere Limited as a dramatised documentary for television with the support of the Thomas Hardy Society. It is centred on original songs set to the poems of Thomas Hardy. The production will have an actor playing Thomas Hardy the novelist, and a classical singer portraying Thomas Hardy the poet.


THE MUSIC SPINNER


Conceived and wrote this original story based on Greek mythology, including the musical score. It is a modern day setting of a tale of mystery, legend and the supernatural and is being developed by Magic Sphere Limited as a ninety-minute filmed musical drama for television.

Formed this company to develop and produce original television film and animation projects with predominant musical themes.


MAGIC OF THE SPHERES


Completed writing this original 'sword and sorcery' cartoon fantasy for children, including illustrating the characters and composing songs and incidental music. Magic Sphere Limited is developing it as a full length animated feature for television with the intention of it being followed up with a television series.

DEMIS ROUSSOS - 'MY VAGABOND HEART' CONCEPT ALBUM AND TV SPECIAL


Conceived, wrote, composed and recorded a demo of a concept album entitled 'MY VAGABOND HEART' for Demis Roussos. It is intended to be developed as a Television Special centring on a live concert event to be filmed in the ancient amphitheatre in Limassol, Cyprus. Songs include: “My Vagabond Heart”, “The One That I Loved”, “Lady Of Vienna”, “La La Lai My Love”, “Club Mexicana”, “My Sombrero”, “Love Is An Island”, “My Summer's Delight”, “Land Where The Red River Flows”. The theme of the story is, that Demis Rousos is cast as a world-weary traveller reflecting back on his life and past loves.

A film made for the European Space Agency concerning the Giotto Mission to intercept Halley's Comet. The film also featured specially written pop songs including 'The Comet Rap' performed by

the international DJ and Rap artist, Gary Byrd. Shown by Channel 4 Television and many other

television networks around the world during 1985. Repeat showing by Channel 4 1988. Also, assistant to the director for specialist music sequences. Directed by Philip Saunders and produced by Judith Maddern for Spafax Television.


MEN OF LETTERS


The Royal Mail's 350th anniversary film narrated by Sarah Kennedy. The documentary rapidly

interposes dramatised scenes form the early days of the Royal Mail with present day technology, thus

illustrating changes that have taken place in the postal services since its inception. Won the Golden

Camera Award, the US Industrial Film Festival, Chicago 1986. Directed by Derek Martinus,

produced by Ray Townshend for World Wide Pictures.

THE LONGEST LINK


STC's 50-minute documentary film account of the laying of the longest undersea telephone

communications cable in the world, linking Australia (via the Pacific Ocean) to Canada. The film

was three years in the making. The film also included STC's new signature tune, which was specially commissioned. Directed by Glyn Jones and produced by Clifford Paris for World Wide Pictures.

ELECTRIC SHOCK
